what to do with.......

I have loads of stitchery patterns that I want to make but I don't know that to do with all of them. I mean I can only have so many pillows and framed ones. So if you have any ideas or just tell me what you do with yours? If you have pics please share them.

So glad it is Friday! The week has gone by very fast. Last Friday we had three couples over for dinner. They are all moving on to new duty stations. It is sad to see then all go! I will miss getting to see the babies grow. We didn't get to spend much time together but I remember all of the good things. Like trying to get Amy to go out for a ride with Josh so Abby would hurry up and get here. Going to see Aaron and Tiffany in the hospital with Lane and one of the guys had brought Aaron coffee but it was not the coffee that he wanted. I felt bad because he looked so tired so I ran over to BB to get the coffee that he wanted. Aaron is just silly......Just getting to have everyone out to the house every summer has been fun. Not sure how it will be with all of the young new families coming in.

I went and got the kids the H1N1 yesterday....Now if they would just get it here for the adults. Matt is home sick with a really bad cold. Just hope he does not pass it to the rest of us. We both had the stomach flew a few weeks ago, not fun.

Tomorrow Jelly bean and I are going to see New Moon, well she is meeting up with friends to see it and I will sit on the other side to watch it to. Jelly bean is not allowed to go to the movies without an adult. Oh well......

That is what is going on in our house this weekend........

Whatcha Working on Wednesdays

I haven't done a Wednesday in a very long time.

This is something that I started a few weeks ago to have for Christmas. Not sure if I will get it done this year.
I finished this granny square blanket a few weeks ago. It came out pretty good!

I have started to work on stitchery again and did this snowman. I made it to a pillow for the couch but decided to mess with it and do some machine quilting for a wall hanging. It is not great but it was the first time I have tried it. I should have practice first..
Another Christmas stitchery pillow.

These next two fall pillows came out really nice.
Not sure why you cant see the one below very well. But it says give thanks with grateful hearts. it is a long couch pillow. I kind of over stuffed it a little too much.
Well this is what I have been up to among other things. It is now cold here and we finally have snow. It was not to have a long warm fall this year!

First Day of Kindergarten

Tristan is now in school! He did not want me to take him to school for his first day. He wanted to ride the bus with his brother. He has been waiting for 3 years to ride the bus. Kindergarten is only part day here so he only gets to ride the bus to school in the mornings.

Waiting for the school bus.

Off to school he goes!

This first week of school for the kindergarten they only go 2.5 hours and next week they will start the half day of 4.5 hours. Not sure why they go 2.5 hours for the first week. He has a good first day!

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I have been told by soldier man that I need to update the blog and add new pics..I really don't have any new pics to add I just haven't been taking any. Things have been busy here getting ready for school. Kelly and Ryan start on Monday and Tristan starts on the 28th.

We had our first frost 2 nights ago...Yep summer is OVER! We have gone blueberry picking a few times I want to try and go one more time this week. We got enough for 13 jars of jam and the raspberries we got 7 jars of jam. Not to bad...

With the frost my flowers are dieing and I need to get the potatoes dug up, but add that to the long list of stuff what needs to be done in the next 2 weeks.

The dreaded list of things to get done before the first snow that will soon be here unless we get an Indian summer! I don't see that happening. "Alaska wives tale...when all the fire weed goes to seed, winter is 6 weeks away" if that is true we have 5 weeks until it snows....It will snow in September always does. But the list needs to get worked on and I haven't started it.....So this morning I planned to get the grass mowed for the last time this season. I never do it and hate the grass come spring because I didn't mow it that last time and it is thick and hard to mow. So I will do it this time. In between getting the list done these 2 weeks I have 2 final papers to write......

Later today we are going out to a friends house for Thanksgiving dinner...her daughters will be at their dads so we are doing it early....

A few weeks ago I had to fly to Anchorage for the day and got bored waiting for the plane. I bought some yarn to mess with before heading back to the airport. I had seen a granny square had on a craft blog and decided to try it. They came out cute and very easy to make. So I made a few for Kelly and her friends.

These granny squares are for a poncho....I started these when we were going to the lake a lot. I am about half way there getting them done.

I need to get moving and outside to get stuff done.......

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

It is sad to say that we are losing several minutes of daylight each day! In a few more days the sun will set before midnight again. I took this picture this morning, 12:24am the sun came up at 3:31am. The sun is now setting below the tree line.

So what do you do at midnight and you cant sleep, why go outside and take pictures.

These are the marigolds, they have done pretty good this summer
The skeeter eater, well worth the money it cost to buy it!

The Lilly's, this summer I bought 3 more Lilly plants. They cost 12.00 each so I never buy them. I have only had one in the ground the last 3 summers and that one was a gift. It has never bloomed because someone keeps hitting it with the weed eater, but with M gone this summer maybe it will see the light and flower!

This summer I added a flower bed in the front of the garden. The sun flowers are getting taller and the other flowers are doing well.

The rhubarb, I hope that is will come back next year. If it does I will get a few more in the yard next summer.

Another squash plant, not sure what it is.

This was cabbage that had gotten pretty big, that is until the moose got in the garden for a late night snack!
Another squash with flowers in it!

The potato tires, they are really growing! I bought 2 large bags of soil to cover them with so that we can add another tire on top. Hope it works.

That is it for today, it has been in the 90's this week and very hot. There are fires burning both north and south of us. The wind has been blowing smoke this way for about a week now. When that happens it just get HOT here...
Time for lunch then outside!!

4th of July

At the end of the day we went to a friends little boy's first birthday party.
Thomas has fun digging into his cake!

Tristan eating cake at the party

These are a few of the beds that were in the bed races

T waiting for the parade to start

Yep, just a moose rack on the truck that was all they did for their float

Every year they have a water safety float "kids don't float" at all of the boat docks here they have life vests for children. you use they and return them.
